Architecture Engineer (201)

We are looking for an Architecture Engineer who will be a key contributor to our software and system development process. The Architecture Engineer will be part of an Architecture & Best Practices (ABP) team whose mission is to improve the quality and agility of PASSUR Technology. The ABP team will select, develop, and maintain tools used in our development: educate and support our development and system engineering staff in their use; and research new tools and processes for continuous improvement. A highly-motivated individual with strong technical & communication skills, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, is sought for the Architecture Engineer role. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks central to the effective and efficient development process.
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with using and adopting commercial and open-source tools, as well as development policies and procedures. The candidate should have deep experience working with development teams and possess strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • With the guidance of the Architecture & Best Practices Manager, analyze the current tools and processes used in software and system development, and identify common needs.
  • Select, research and prototype enhancements when existing tools fall short of need or technologies available off-the-shelf.
  • Document development policies on common tool and component use, including programming languages and style guides, as appropriate. Update these documents as required, and training and support Technology staff on those policies.
  • Focus areas for the role include, but not limited to tools and process for:
    • Network design
    • Database design
    • Messaging middleware
    • Service-oriented architecture
    • Security aspects
    • Program, file command, and database naming and hierarchy
    • Source code control
    • Testing frameworks

Requirements
  • Experience in programming with Unix shell, C, C++

Business Analyst (202)

We are looking for a Business Analyst who will be the vital link between our product team and our development team by supporting and ensuring the successful application of the Product team’s product vision and requirements into our software roadmap and our delivered products.  A highly-motivated individual with strong and demonstrated organizational, technical, and analytical problem-solving skills, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, is sought for the Business Analyst role.  This is an opportunity to create and develop the business analyst function within a growing company and be a key contributor to the company’s success.  This position is responsible for a variety of tasks central to ensuring our Functionality teams, which define our product roadmap and determine our release schedule, succeed.

The ideal candidate for this role will have Business Analyst or product management experience within a dynamic, growing enterprise software company that sells into large organizations.  The candidate should have deep experience working with development teams and possess strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Write the company’s product specification documents from which the development team will build our software products.
  • Assist Chief Product Officer in management of functionality teams by prioritizing and organizing materials for regular business reviews of each group of products.
  • Prepare materials required to propose changes to our roadmap and development plan, including financial analysis in Excel.
  • Work across departments to ensure all aspects of the product development and delivery process understand the product specifications and operate efficiently. Examples include working with the:
    • Product team to ensure all aspects of the roadmap are properly reflected in the specification documents
    • Development team to ensure they understand product specifications fully, and act as a liaison with the Product team to clear up any misunderstandings and solve any problems that arise
    • QA team to ensure they write a proper test plan
    • Marketing team to ensure functionality is properly reflected in training and marketing materials
    • Sales team to ensure they accurately reflect functionality to customers and prospects
  • Coordinate with the customer care team to manage actions out of our Mantis bug tracking software
    • Prioritize all Mantis entries in consultation with the product team
    • Monitor the closing of Mantis items targeted for delivery
Requirements
  • 5 years working experience as a business analyst or product manager for a software and services company selling into businesses
    • Understands how to write effective product specification documents
    • Knows how a good product management/business analyst relationship functions with a track record of successful product delivery

Network Operations Center (NOC) Center Operator (205)

We are looking for a Network Operations Center (NOC) Operator to provide enterprise-level monitoring of our data centers. You will diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware problems on Linux systems.  Operators monitor the system and restore services. They select, configure, and enhance monitoring tools to enable them to identify and resolve issues quickly.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the data centers and restore services when systems fail
  • Research and identify solutions to software and hardware issues
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including account setup and network configuration
  • Track computer system issues through to resolution, within agreed time limits
  • Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams (e.g. software developers)
  • Refer to internal database or external resources to provide accurate tech solutions
  • Ensure all issues are properly logged
  • Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
  • Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals
  • Select, configure, and enhance monitoring tools
  • Coordinate emergency communications (e.g., during an outage or maintenance period)
  • Perform scheduled maintenance (to the extent of their capabilities) and system checks

Requirements

Program Management Office (PMO) Manager (203)

We are looking for a Program Management Office (PMO) Manager who will be the vital link between our Commercial, Product, and Technology teams by ensuring the successful application of the Product Team’s current product requirements and future vision into our delivered products and doing so in adherence to our Policies & Procedures. This position is responsible for the overall planning, execution, visibility, and tracking of all development projects and key hardware (radar sensor) installation projects. The position will be required to work cross-functionally to ensure project success and to monitor every phase of the project, from estimating development time required, to launching the product to the market. This new position is responsible for creating the PMO and for managing individual project manager(s), within a growing software company.

The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated individual with strong and demonstrated organizational, analytical/problem-solving, and communication skills.  The candidate will have project and program management experience within a dynamic, growing enterprise software company that sells into large organizations. The candidate should have deep experience working with development and hardware installation teams and possess strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. The Candidate should have deep experience and proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project), spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel), and communication software (e.g. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint). The candidate will be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Build individual project plans (with detailed tasks and intermediate milestones) and aggregate into company-wide plan
    • Seek input from specialists/experts to gather Level of Effort (LOE) estimates, hardware requirements, data source needs, etc. and combine all pieces together
    • Facilitate internal manpower planning, e.g., build schedule for resources and identify constraints (with aggregated plan) before constraints occur
    • Track project progress and create reporting to “flag” delayed and/or over budget projects, etc.
    • Solicit tradeoffs (identified by Development Leads) so informed decisions can be made on contingency and/or “get back on track” plans
    • Build checklists to support product deployment/implementation (but do not act as the customer interface role)
    • Conduct post audits of revenues, costs, and timelines to facilitate a continuous feedback loop to improve forecasting of future projects
  • Work across departments to ensure all aspects of the project are obtained, assigned, and understood; capture all aspects of programs and projects into one plan with the appropriate level of detail and clearly identified interdependencies. Examples include working with the QA team to ensure they write a proper test plan, the Development team to ensure each step is identified along with milestone dates, with the Customer Experience team to ensure functionality is properly reflected in training materials, with the Customer Experience team to incorporate necessary tasks for ultimate deployment/delivery of products etc.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate project activities through the entire project lifecycle (from initiation to close). This includes resource planning and allocation, setting clear project milestones and deliverables, communicating goals, objectives, and responsibilities, and keeping the project focused in terms of scope, schedule, communication, and risk.
  • Create and execute on project plans and other required project documentation in a timely manner in order to stated goals.
  • Manage task delivery and actively understand potential and actual slippage in timing.
  • Lead meetings with project stakeholders. Work within and across work teams to capture issues/risks. Drive these items to resolution, including facilitating mitigation strategies and driving to issue/risk closure.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations via timely and clear communications, both orally and in writing, with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Specifically, the position will be responsible for:
    • Managing and communicating the company’s product development and release schedule, with an understanding of all interdependencies and risks
    • Shepherding projects through the company’s tollgate process – communicating the impact to other projects if new projects are approved and ensuring time estimates are done consistently and as accurately as possible
    • Ensuring development efforts by project are tracked properly in the company’s time reporting system (currently Daptive)
Requirements
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) professional designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI), or equivalent certification
  • Five years working experience as a project and/or program manager for a software and services company selling into businesses, including building individual project plans and aggregate them into programs and company-wide plans, including manpower planning
  • Solid leadership presence and technical proficiency required to interact with an experienced development team

This position serves as the Manager of Quality Assurance for a quickly growing company looking to formalize their Quality Assurance practices and procedures. This new position will give the manager the ability to implement new tools from the ground up to improve product testing, reliability, and functionality.
