Public Information

We’re blown away by the ETA accuracy.”
– Richmond International Airport

PASSUR public information solutions, including those for airport FIDS, are designed to ensure that the airport is delivering the most accurate, up-to-date, reliable and consistent information on airspace, flights and delays.

Airports today are being asked to take on more responsibility for accurately informing the public about flight status and other travel-related information – yet they don’t always have the independent sources of information to fulfill that requirement.

Common use, AODB, and traditional FIDS programs are only as good as the information that goes into them – and frequently airports find that they are at the mercy of other players to deliver that information. In addition, airports would like the same source that feeds their FIDS to support their aviation statistics and landing fee reports – but they can do that only with a program of specialized data feeds that are independent, radar-based, and designed for each specific need.

Common FIDS problems

  • Flight updates are dependent on the local airline station operation, which often does not have the staff to ensure these are done.
  • Legacy FIDS programs are dependent on aging standalone terminals at the airline/airport operation, with long and expensive replacement programs
  • Flight status updates independent of the carriers are typically fed by FAA ASD data, which has known and documented inaccuracies during irregular operations

PASSUR FIDS solutions include:

Data

  • You can enhance any existing FIDS program with the PASSUR flight status data feed, to create a significantly more accurate flight status program for passengers.

Software

  • PASSUR FIDS software is entirely web-based. It is a completely hosted solution that requires no software deployment at the airport.
  • It is fed by the PASSUR radar network and database of live flight status updates.
  • Authorized users can access the program from any web-connected PC to update flight status and post public messages.

Public messaging on your Web site via PASSUR public airspace display

  • Airports can now push out live messaging onto PASSUR AirportMonitor™, which provides an interactive display of air traffic and flight information in and around the terminal airspace, on the airport  Web site.
